DAVID DEE – The Soulful Afro Latin Jazz Man INFAMOUS LAST WORDS!
Joe Claussell , Masters At Work , Francois Kevorkian , Marshall Jefferson , Frankie Knuckles to name a few were influences why the Maltese born genius started Djing.
David Dominque Mizzi a.k.a. David Dee’s career kicked off after listening to Funk and Disco – "The vibe back in the days of Disco was extraordinary – I remember the first record I bought was “Dancer” by Gino Soccio followed by Patrick Hernandez “Born To Be Alive”. Then after the 70’s sound started to die, I got into a lot of new electronic sounds which we used to call New Wave. It was a great change, but my heart still was attached to Funk and Soul, so when House Music was born in the late 80’s, I was very happy cause I felt that this is going to be my future style. When Marshall Jefferson came up with “Move Your Body€, he opened this genre for all DJs to start making music with a simple keyboard which does everything…drum loops, chords, etc. It's very funny to look back on that because now I am working with the man who invented House music.
There will always be a lot of producers who always inspire me such as Joe Claussell, Masters At Work and Francois K just to name a few. I am very selective nowadays – I spin Afro Latin-flavoured Jazz & Deep Souful House, but I play everything that sounds good in the end. I can drop a Techno, RnB or even Funky Disco track if the mood takes me, and I never seem to have let anyone down by doing that.”
Moving to Austria in 1996 he met Romac (one half of Ultra Deep Boys) & Philipp in a record shop and was hearing some of their work and he quite liked it so he went humorously to introduce himself to them. A couple of days later and they started to work together producing Deep music as a production team in the name of Ultra Deep Productions and it was really great but he still felt that something bigger was about to come and change his life?
1999 David Hooked up with legendary American singer CeCe Rogers – It was certainly the destiny to be established more worldwide due to the effort he put in his career. It was just an e-mail followed by a phone call when he brought CeCe over for a couple of gigs in Austria and Switzerland since he was organizing and DJing at his own parties too. After talking to CeCe on the phone, they both felt that they should be doing some work together and during the period of time when CeCe had to come over to meet up, David sent him this track which he felt he can put some vocals on top of it. “After receiving the track, CeCe was calling me every second day and I was shocked cause I wasn’t expecting that he will call me but I then realized that the dream was becoming a music industry reality for David Dee. And so the story continues. CeCe’s hook up was the key to my dream and success.”
David’s productions go under a countless stream of pseudonyms so he uses a lot of different names and in fact he does this due to record labels which may stop a career with just a simple name. Some of the names he records under Ultra Deep Productions and KJR Productions, and as an artist he records under Ultra Deep Boys, CeCe Rogers, NuPhunk, David Domingues, MoodLife and also DJ David Dee for his Unreleased Project Parts.
His prolific DJing schedule has seen him playing worldwide in major countries such as USA, Canada, India, UK, Ibiza, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Portugal, Georgia, Armenia, France to name a few.
“My current biggest Gig memory is Belgrade seeing 10000 people screaming on every track I was playing followed by Street Parade in Zurich & Ibiza at Amnesia”
Played alongside and collaborated with Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Deep Dish… Grant Nelson, Eddie Amador, Brian Tappert, Junior Jack & Kid Creme, Spiller, Tiefschwarz, Dennis Ferrer, Quentin Harris, Nick Holder, Osunlade, DJ Camacho, Blaze, David Guetta, Tommy Vee, Soul Seduction and many more…
David’s current base is Tampa Bay Florida via New York & Chicago / USA
